Glastonbury Festival has issued an update after festivalgoers have been warned of disruption from planned rail strikes.
Great Western Railway (GWR) has been working on contingency plans to maintain train links between Castle Cary (the main festival station) and London Paddington throughout the course of the festival. Industrial action will take place on June 21, 23 and 25, affecting two days of the festival.
In a statement, GWR said: "Planned industrial action on 21, 23 and 25 June is due to affect train services. We plan to maintain timetabled trains between Castle Cary and London Paddington throughout the course of the Glastonbury Festival.

"Some services might be subject to alterations to train times and we will be in contact with customers who have already booked seats on board those trains."
GWR has recommended festival-goers who have already bought train tickets between Castle Cary and London check the amended plan before either changing their travel arrangements or submitting a refund request for their train ticket. Ticketholders should check the amended plan for the following dates:
Date | Strike/non-strike day | Timetable publication date |
Mon, June 20 | Non-strike day | Thurs, June 16 |
Tues, June 21 | Strike day | Thurs, June 16 |
Wed, June 22 | Non-strike day | Fri, June 17 |
Thurs, June 23 | Strike Day | Thurs, June 16 |
Fri, June 24 | Non-strike day | Fri, June 17 |
Sat, June 25 | Strike day | Tues, June 21 |
Sun, June 26 | Non-strike day | Tues, June 21 |
Other parts of the GWR network are likely to be more affected by the strike action and customers may need to consider alternative ways to travel to a station serving Castle Cary.
Customers travelling from outside the GWR network should check connecting services with their local train operator. Full details for those travelling outside the London Paddington to Castle Cary route can check their journey on the GWR strike page.
The railway service plans to run a normal service for customers returning from Castle Cary after the festival on Monday, June 26. The festival has issued advice on transportation to and from the festival by other means, including car, bus, bike and car share.
Glastonbury Festival is taking place from Wednesday, June 22 to Sunday, June 26 at Worthy Farm in Pilton
