Glastonbury 2022 line-up in full including Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Sam Fender

Glastonbury Festival has announced the full line-up for the 2022 festival.

The Somerset-based gig will return this summer after two years of cancellations because of the pandemic.

Over 80 sensational music acts will perform at the iconic music event that will take place from Wednesday June 22 until Sunday June 26.

And now ticketholders know who will be performing at the highly-anticipated festival at Worthy Farm.

The music festival shared the official line-up on Twitter on Friday and typed: "Here is the first Glastonbury Festival 2022 line-up poster, which includes our final two Pyramid Stage headliners: @PaulMcCartney, (Saturday) and @kendricklamar(Sunday). Many more acts and attractions still to be announced."

Some of the names on the list are not unexpected - including Sir Paul McCartney, as last month it was reported that the music icon was going to headline the event.

The Beatles star, 79, will be taking to the Pyramid Stage days after his 80th birthday.

Other performers who were already announced for the huge weekend included the legendary Diana Ross, who has been placed in the Sunday afternoon Legends slot.

She had originally been due to play the festival’s popular legends slot during the event’s 50th anniversary in 2020 before it was cancelled.

The 2022 line-up has been met with mixed reviews on social media.

Several Twitter users took to the micro-blogging site to tell that they were not impressed with the line-up being filled with pop singers.

One annoyed person fumed: "Welcome Glastonbury pop festival."

A second joined in: "Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish… It’s just wrong."

Another moody social media user added: " Not a huge amount to get excited about here. Pet Shop Boys and Primal Scream aside,"

Others told the unhappy ticketholders to stop moaning as they backed up the festival.

"For people complaining there are over 50 stages at Glastonbury, if you can't find something you like on one of those maybe it's just not the place for you?" a supporter wrote

Another hit back: "So much of that line up is definitely not pop."
