Glastonbury 2020 tickets sold out but people describe sale as 'absolute joke' after repeatedly failing to get on site

Thousands of people who tried to get tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2020 were left disappointed today as the event sold out in just over half-an hour.

Tickets for the event went on sale at 9am but many people struggled to even get on the website.

By 9.34am Glastonbury Festival tweeted confirmation that the event was sold out and apologised to those who had missed out on getting a ticket.

The organisers reminded people that a ticket resale will be held in April and said they will be announcing details of a ‘special ballot’ for the sale of 50 pairs of tickets in the coming days.

Organiser Emily Eavis also tweeted that the festival had sold out and said demand was “higher than ever, with over 2.4 million people registered” for the event.

While some people shared their excitement at managing to get tickets for the 2020 festival, many in Liverpool vented their frustration on social media at not being able to get onto the site.

Mark Ellis tweeted: “If you got tickets for @GlastoFest 2020 let me know your secrets please? 6 devices and not a sniff in either stage”

Danielle Hill @dan_hill_1 said: “Again no @GlastoFest tickets for 5th year in a row!! Joke!!  any chance!!”

Tessa McGrath @tmcg20 tweeted: “Got through to pay 3 times. Your site is absolutely shocking.”

Ryan @rynwat tweeted: "Managed to get in 3 times... gave payment details and crashed. Absolutely devastated!! APRIL we go again!! #Glastonbury"
