Glasgow woman who stabbed husband and told police he 'deserved it' given unpaid work

A woman who scarred her husband for life and told police that he deserved it has been sentenced.

First offender Michelle Bird, 46, stabbed Colin Bird at their home in Baillieston on May 6, 2022.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Bird called 999 to say that she had struck Colin on the upper left arm.

Police went on to find blood droplets in the hall and Bird in the living room close to Colin.

The injured man - who was married to Bird for four years - was holding a blood-soaked towel to his arm.

Bird told officers: "It was me, I done it."

She then stated while under caution that she had been trying to get Colin help for two days.

Prosecutor Katie Bell said: "Colin said it was an accident but Bird stated that it was not an accident."

Bird was arrested and later told officers: "He is a b******, he deserved it."

Colin was taken to accident and emergency for treatment to the wound above his elbow.

Miss Bell said: "This required stitches which will leave permanent scarring."

Bird pled guilty to assaulting Colin to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement aggravated by an involving abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

Sheriff Brian Cameron gave Bird 150 hours of unpaid work.
