Glasgow west end could soon welcome Japanese tea house serving traditional coffee and food

Glasgow could soon welcome its very own Japanese tea house under new plans.

By Chance has submitted plans to open the restaurant at 296 Dumbarton Road in Partick.

The proposal outlines plans for a tearoom that would offer a 'very simple menu' featuring cakes, Japanese tea and coffee, and food including kimchi rice balls and egg yolk rice balls.

It would have enough seats for 20 customers and would be open between 9am and 11pm seven days a week.

Plans submitted to Glasgow City Council explain: "This particular area of Glasgow has a long tradition of being a home to newcomers to Glasgow andin the 21st century has become a home to a variety of immigrant communities.

"This project seeks to expand on the Multi-Culturalism of the City, on this basis the proposal is consistent with the Council's policies of 'Place making' and 'The 20 Minute Neighbourhood'."

The proposal is due to go before the council's planning committee.
