Glasgow weather: City covered by eerie freezing fog as temperatures plummet

Glasgow has been engulfed with an eerie sight today as temperatures plummet to lows of around -7C.

The extreme cold snap has left most of us keen to put on plenty of layers and stay firmly indoors - where it's safe from icy pavements, and nose-freezing temperatures.

But if you brave the outside (or just peek out your windows) you'll see that icy fog has covered the city today, despite the weather remaining dry, with little precipitation.

The cold spell isn't set to disappear for a few days yet, either, with the Met Office predicting that temperatures will remain in the negatives for at least the next three days.

Today's forecast reads: "Most areas will stay dry on another very cold day with many places remaining below freezing. Across Argyll some light wintry showers may appear, chiefly during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 2 °C."

It continues into the evening: "A few isolated, light snow showers across Argyll. Elsewhere dry with clear spells leading to another deep frost. Northerly winds fresh around the coasts. Minimum temperature -8 °C.

So stay warm, take care on roads and be sure to bundle up!
