Glasgow weather as snow and freezing temperatures to batter UK amid 800-mile-wide 'barrage'

The UK is set to be colder than Finland with an 800 mile-wide "Greenland barrage" set to hit the country.

Soon parts of the UK could see a six day shiver of snow and sleet as well as a drop in temperatures, which could fall as low as -7C, from Wednesday (February 22), reports the Daily Star.

The north of England is set to be hit first, with Scotland likely being hit later in the week. The Met Office warning of chills, wintry showers and frost as we reach the end of February.

Because of the 800-mile-wide storm, the UK is reportedly set to be colder than -5C nights in Helsinki and Finland.

According to WXCharts, Glasgow could see snowfall around the end of this month with the map, shown in purple, suggesting flurries could also land as late as March 7.

Brian Gaze, a forecaster at The Weather Outlook, warned: “Computer models show very cold air being pulled in from Wednesday, moving down from the north-west. It means the risk of snow returns, particularly for the North."

The warnings of the colder conditions come as Glaswegians said they barely slept last week due to the strong winds associated with Storm Otto. And much the same is happening this morning with the gales keeping people up for another night.
