A lout threatened to shoot hotel staff and assault police officers.

Paul King, 51, hurled abuse at a Travelodge in Govan after entered the building in an "agitated state." Worker Lauren Reilly asked if King was okay and she was told: "I'm not alright."

Prosecutor Jeremy O'Neill said: "Miss Reilly attempted to engage with King who swung his crutch above his head and shouted 'I'm going to smash up this place'."

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Miss Reilly tried to calm him down but was told to "go away."

Along with colleague Linda Walker she later attended his room to check up on him on on February 17, 2021.

King told them: "I've got a gun and I'm going to shoot you."

The pair backed away from King and dialled 999.

Officers attended and King refused to engage with them.

He stated: "I'm going to stick the nut on you."

King was restrained and arrested as he continued to make identical threats.

King pled guilty on Friday to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Donna Maitland, defending, told the court that King would "not be able to stick the nut on anyone due to his intoxication."

The lawyer added that King is currently tagged for another matter for 15 weeks and is unable to do unpaid work.

Sheriff Tom Ward stated that his "hands were tied" due to his tag and ordered King to be of good behaviour for four months.
