Glasgow TransPennine cancellations and delays amid staff shortages with 13 services affected

A number of TransPennine services across the UK have been delayed or cancelled across much of today (May 27) with as many as 32 services impacted.

The news comes amid staff shortages of train drivers and conductors resulting in many people having to make alternative arrangements.

TransPennine now recommends customers check their journeys before travelling using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

On their website the operator state: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to your journey today.

"If your journey has been delayed, you may be entitled to some compensation. Please check www.tpexpress.co.uk/help/delay-repay-compensation for further information. For assistance with your journey, you can also follow us on Twitter @TPEassist or you can message us on WhatsApp at 07812 223 336."

As a result, a number of services have been affected both coming into, and leaving, Glasgow Central. In addition to cancellations, there are also a number of delays.

Looking ahead the the latest delays, the operator has stated the following services have been cancelled for the following reasons:

11:07 Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport due 14:41 will be terminated at Preston.
It will no longer call at Bolton, Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.
11:10 Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central due 14:39 will be started from Carlisle.
It will no longer call at Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road, Preston, Lancaster, Oxenholme Lake District and Penrith North Lakes.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.
15:10 Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central due 18:38 will be started from Preston.
It will no longer call at Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.
17:07 Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport due 20:43 will be started from Preston.
It will no longer call at Glasgow Central, Motherwell, Lockerbie, Carlisle, Penrith North Lakes, Oxenholme Lake District and Lancaster. This is due to a shortage of train drivers.
19:11 Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport due 22:45 will be terminated at Preston.
It will no longer call at Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
This is due to a shortage of train conductors.
