Glasgow trains to Edinburgh could be cancelled or delayed after passenger emergency

Trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh could face delay or cancellation after a passenger took unwell on a service from the capital to Polmont.

The incident took place at around 5.30pm today with travel disruption expected to continue until 7.30pm.

It is believed that both police and an ambulance were in attendance at the scene near Linlithgow. The current condition of the passenger is unknown.

Routes from Edinburgh to Stirling, Glasgow, and Falkirk could all be impacted.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: "Lines have now reopened following a passenger being taken ill on a train between Edinburgh and Polmont earlier today.

"Trains running to and from these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 35 minutes or revised as service recovers.

"We anticipate disruption will continue until 19:30."

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
