Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union are threatening plans for a 48 hour walk out every weekend in December.
Following a long dispute over pay and working conditions, more than 2,000 employees including conductors, station staff and engineering depot staff would walk out every Friday and Saturday next month until December 24.
While ScotRail bosses have said that no formal confirmation of strike action has been issued, according to the BBC, if the dispute is not resolved, this would cause havoc around the festive period.

On top of this, RMT ScotRail members are also planning industrial action on Saturday November 19, disrupting travel for thousands of rugby fans heading to Murrayfield for the Scotland V Argentina game.
This comes after the RMT announced that the planned Network Rail strikes for November 5, 7 and 9, will be suspended.
RMT regional officer Mick Hogg said staff "did not want the havoc" caused by the strikes, but the RMT union have said they will continue industrial action for "as long as it takes" to get a fair pay deal.
Its members recently rejected an improved offer put to members that was understood to be around 7.5 per cent for the lowest paid - comprising a £500 uplift on top of the five per cent already offered.

These dates would include:
- Friday December 2
- Saturday December 3
- Friday December 9
- Saturday December 10
- Friday December 16
- Saturday December 17
- Friday December 23
- Saturday December 24
