Glasgow teenager follows woman home and asks her for sex on Dumbarton Road

A teenager drove a woman to tears after he followed her and asked for sex.

Bilal Zazai, 19, kept tabs on the then 18-year-old in the Partick area of Glasgow on April 13, 2021.

Zazai, from Anniesland, initially asked for directions before making remarks about her appearance.

He then trailed her before stating that he wanted to "touch" and "have sex" with her.

The woman was saved when a passer-by intervened and recorded Zazai on her phone.

The images were later handed into police and used to trace Zazai who was then arrested.

Zazai pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to conducting himself in a disorderly manner that would cause a reasonable person fear and alarm.

The court heard the woman was walking home along Dumbarton Road when Zazai asked for directions to Great Western Road.

Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said: "He began to follow her and made efforts to engage her in conversation.

"He stated 'You are so pretty, I want to go out with you'."

The woman felt uncomfortable but Zazai "persisted to follow her."

Zazai later escalated his remarks towards the woman stating: "Let me touch you" before stroking her face.

He then said: "I want to have sex with you."

Zazai continued to follow the woman who then changed her route to avoid him knowing her home address.

Another woman passing by witnessed the conduct and initially believed they were in a relationship.

The woman was heard to tell Zazai to "go away" before the passer-by intervened.

The woman hugged the passer-by "in relief" as Zazai fled the scene.

Ms Stevens added: "The witness could see that the woman was distressed, upset and crying."

Moments later, the woman and the passer-by clocked Zazai hiding beside a van on Queen Victoria Drive.

The passer-by recorded Zazai as he ran off again.

The images were passed on to police who later dealt with Zazai in an unrelated matter.

CCTV was also used to review Zazai's conduct and he was arrested.

Jim Brady, defending, told the court that Zazai experienced bulling in educational establishments he had attended in the past.

The lawyer added: "He has been a troubled person for years."

Sheriff Gerard Considine put Zazai under supervision and the sex offenders register for 12 months.

A non-harassment order restricting Zazai's contact with the victim was also granted for five years.
