EMERGENCY crews have been called to a city subway station after a man became trapped between the carriage and the platform.
Crews are currently at Cowcaddens subway station in Glasgow city centre and passengers have been evacuated and trains on the outer line have been suspended.
It is understood the incident happened on the train running through the outer circle at lunchtime today.
An eyewitness told the Glasgow Times: "I was walking downstairs and the subway worker asked where I was going, and I advised Hillhead.
"I then saw two subway workers attend to a man who appeared to have his leg trapped in the gap between the subway and the platform.
"Two fire trucks appeared and firefighters came down the platform and told us to evacuate and leave. They cordoned off the station."
In a tweet Glasgow Subway said: "Cowcaddens Station is now closed to the public while emergency services deal with a passenger incident.
"Trains will not be stopping at the station, apologies for the inconvenience.
"Apologies all, Outer Circle currently suspended while we wait for emergency services to assist with a passenger incident at Cowcaddens Station. Inner Circle is running as usual. Apologies for the inconvenience. Will update when service on Outer resumes."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue and Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
