Plenty of Glaswegians and visitors to the city have a soft spot for the Glasgow Subway – despite the fact it's been going round in (the same) circles since it opened back in 1896.
The wee dinky subway cars, retro seating, the smell, and the endless shooglin' as you are whisked round the city all make for a fun-filled subterranean ride - and one that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time.
We can't be the only ones who have thought to themselves how much they'd love to have a chair or sofa at home upholstered in the same iconic vintage orange and brown design.

We decided to find out if that could actually happen, and the good news is it can...but for a price.
We reached out to Camira, who have supplied the upholstery for the Glasgow Subway for a number of years (previously Holdsworth) to ask the million dollar question.
As the upholstery is a custom made item made for the Subway, they don’t have any stock, meaning that the minimum order required would be 300m. At £26.50 per metre, that would come in at a cool £7,950, and that's before any treatments would be added to the fabric to meet any fire specifications.
Perhaps we could all chip in for it for the Glasgow 3D artist who spent lockdown designing an incredible Subway-themed bar and ask him if he's keen on getting the idea off the ground. That would be his seats sorted.
