Glasgow street cordoned off as emergency services race to 'serious crash'

A street linking the city centre and east end of Glasgow has been closed off by police following a serious road traffic accident.

Duke Street has been cordoned off between Bellgrove Street and Whitehall Street while police investigate the incident, which took place just before midday.

Police confirmed a serious road crash has taken place, with an ambulance crew at the scene. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route, reports Glasgow Live.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police have been called to a road crash on Duke Street, Glasgow and officers are at the scene."

There is no indication at this stage of any casualties. More on this story as we get it.
