Plans have been revealed for a new Starbucks store in the St Enoch Centre, with the chain set to relocate.
The St Enoch Trustee Company has submitted an application to Glasgow City Council, which requests permission for the coffee shop to take over an empty unit.
It was previously used by a shoe shop but has been vacant for around four years.

If the application is approved, Starbucks would move from its current location, allowing the firm to expand its offering within the centre.
The plans state: “The occupation of this unit by Starbucks Coffee will positively contribute to this part of the St Enoch Centre."
“Starbucks Coffee currently occupies Unit 22 which is significantly smaller than the proposed unit.
“The relocation and expansion to Unit 18 will generate jobs and increase the footfall in the St. Enoch Centre, all to the benefit of the wider city centre’s vitality and viability.”
St Enoch Centre bosses believe the move “would secure a long-term tenant that contributes positively to the vibrancy of the shopping centre at all times of day”.
The application adds in the face of “internet retailing and wider trends, national multiple retailers have for some time been ‘right sizing’ their portfolios, whilst the shopping ‘experience’ is ever more important for non-internet retail.”
It states planning decisions should work towards “the creation of sustainably accessible places which people are drawn to and want to visit.”
There are future plans to demolish the current St Enoch Centre, replacing it with a mixed-use development including homes, retail, leisure, hotel and offices.
However, the redevelopment would take place over the next 20 years. An application for planning permission in principle for the masterplan was submitted in March last year.
