Glasgow school pays tribute to two pupils after their tragic deaths

Emotional t ributes have been paid after two pupils from the same Glasgow high school passed away.

Lourdes Secondary School, in the Cardonald area of the city, broke the devastating news on social media yesterday.

Headteacher Gerry McGuigan said it was with “deep regret” that he was announcing the tragic sudden deaths of the pupils.

He added: “It is with deep regret that I inform you that 2 pupils from our school community have sadly passed away.

"Please keep both pupils & their families in your thoughts and prayers.

"If any pupil requires support at this very difficult time please contact your PC Teacher."

Schools across Glasgow joined forces to show support for the two teens.

Messages of condolences flooded in for the Cardonald school from across the educational community including Oakwood Primary, Linburn Academy, Rosshall Academy, Pirie Park Primary, Mount Florida Primary, Holyrood Secondary and Hyndland Secondary.

As we reported yesterday, tributes have poured in across social media for one of the youngsters who died.

Callum Scrimgeour, known as Scrimmy, passed away after falling from a bridge over the M77 motorway on Sunday night.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in the south side of Glasgow but he sadly passed away.

Devastated loved ones shared memories of the popular 16-year-old.

One heartbroken relative posted on Facebook: "Well, I am absolutely heartbroken I am writing this.

"Last night we lost my little cousin, Callum.

"You where taken far too soon, wee man. I'm gonna miss you so, so much. I love you with all my heart, wee man.

"RIP, love you bro."

Palace Park Football Club, based in the Govan area of the city, also shared the tragic news and their own respects to the teenager.

A representative wrote: "Yesterday we lost an amazing young man, a nicer guy you couldn’t meet who will be missed by everyone at the club.

"Callum’s ex team mates and friends are devastated.

"Our thoughts are with his family.

"There’s only one Scrimmy."
