Covid restrictions seem to be a thing of the past in Scotland but while sub-variants of Omicron become the dominant strain, some experts are urging people not to panic.
Scotland is seeing a spike in cases after reporting the highest amount of infections since April but some health experts point out that we are still in a better position than we were in back in 2020. Now we have vaccines, and medication to help those with severe symptoms.
However, others have expressed their concern that the new sub-variants are proving to be more contagious and hitting people who would have built up an immunity to covid through previous infection and being vaccinated. In Glasgow City, as of June 24, there have been 1,778 seven day positive cases, and 279.7 cases per 100,000 population.

When the pandemic first broke out, Glasgow saw some of the highest infection rates but even with the new surge, the city isn't experiencing the highs it saw at the start of the year, according to Public Health Scotland. The seven day positivity rate sits at 400-799 in Glasgow City with Kelvindale recording 34 cases - the highest positive case rate between June 18 - June 24 and 556.2 cases per 100,000 of the population. PHS add that data is likely to be incomplete and a three-day lag has been applied to the data.
Coming in just second on a weekly rate is Battlefield with 33 seven day positive cases and the neighbourhood but recorded a higher rate per 100,000 population at 640.0. With a rate per population of 551.9, Dowanhill comes in third and recorded 25 cases from June 18 - 24.

Ibrox East and Cessnock's rate sits at 476.6 with 16 cases recorded as did Merrylee and Millbrae with a rate per populations of 458.3. Kelvinside and Jordanhill came just below with a rate of 453.6 per population and recorded 26 cases that week, just like Partick and Hyndland which has a positive cases rate per 100,000 of 449.4.
Riddrie and Hogganfield, Cardonald West and Central also were highlighted as having high cases rates whereas Central Easterhouse and Sighthill were at the bottom of the list with just zero to two cases.
