Glasgow's top 10 most expensive streets for huge property prices

Now we can't blame you for having a look around Zoopla once in a while to see what's on the market.

And more often than not we do this when we aren't actually looking to move - instead we see what we wish we could afford and how we would rip out the kitchen and bathroom to make it look like something from the 21st century.

So if you've ever wondered where the most expensive place to live in Glasgow would be, we've got you covered.

From homes with seven receptions to a property that within one year has already increased by 11%, it's safe to say some areas of Glasgow are nae cheap.

In fact, the average sale price of a home in Glasgow has increased almost 10% in one year.

Published this week, the UK House Price Index shows the average price of a property in our city in November 2021 was £164,382, a 9.6% increase on the £149,927 figure recorded in November 2020.

But if you win the lottery, you may actually begin looking at these areas and not just to be nosy.

So what are Glasgow's most expensive streets?

1. Elphinstone Road, Glasgow G46

First on the list is Elphinstone Road which is located in a quiet back street in Giffnock and lies between Whitecraigs Golf Club and Cathcart Castle Golf Club.

This street has seen 12 properties being sold with an average of £1,467,052 between them.

None however, have sold within the last year.

The highest price paid for a property is £1,725,000 which sold in September 2020.

It comes with five bedrooms, an unknown number of bathrooms and seven receptions and is now said to be worth £1,840,000.

2. Methven Road, Glasgow G46

No homes have sold in this area within the last year however Zoopla have said that the average house price is said to be around £1,385,298 with many of the large properties containing five bedrooms and multiple bathrooms and receptions.

However one home went well above the average price having sold back in August 2016, the property is said to have increased in value adding 15% - or an additional £304,000 now taking it to an estimated £2,304,000.

3. Ellergreen Road, Glasgow G61

This street can be found within the area of the highly sought-after Bearsden.

One property sold here within the last year for £1,300,000.

Little information is known about this area with no information or averages for other properties being listed however the Bearsden area, according to VisitScotland, is described as an "affluent suburb of Glasgow located six miles north west of the city centre."

Currently a four bedroom, four bathroom house is on the market in the suburb for offers over £635,000.

4. Frederick Boulevard, Glasgow G7

Located within the Thorntonhall area, this street is said to have homes worth £1.25 on average.

In the last 12 months, they have had one property sold which went for £980,050 in March 2021.

Despite having sold for near one million pounds less than a year ago - the sale price is said to have already increased by 11% to £1,085,000.

5. Roddinghead Road, Glasgow G46

These properties are set back in a quiet area of Giffnock.

Here the average house prices are said to be an estimated £1,232,685

One property has been sold within the last 12 months which went for £1,400,000.

The four bed detached house sold for £250,000 back in August 2005 which now seems like nothing in comparison to today's house prices having not long sold for almost £1.5 million.

6. Lethington Road, Glasgow G46

One of the latest properties to have been sold is a four bedroom and two bathroom house.

It also boasts three receptions and sold for a whopping £1,350,000 in July 2021.

The average house price in the areas is said to be £919,805 with just one home being sold within the last year.

7. Craigmillar Avenue, Glasgow G62

Like other areas, this street is said to have not sold any homes within the last 12 months with little data available.

Prices in the area are said, on average, to cost £803,311 though is is expected that this is much more standing at around £1,166,904.

8. Countess Gate, Glasgow G71

There have been no sales here within the last year according to Zoopla however average jome prices seem to be around the £1.3 million mark.

One example of the steep increase in prices over the years is a five bedroom, six bathroom house which also features a grand total of four receptions.

This detached property sold for £750,000 in August 2013 and is now estimated to be worth £1,272,000 - a 70% increase.

9. The Loaning, Glasgow G46

Over the course of the past year, one property has sold in this street which on average, will set you back £901,000.

This particular property comes with five bedrooms, five bathrooms and a whopping five reception rooms which last sold in March 2015 for £970,000.

It's now said to be worth between £1.17 million and £1.41 million.

10. Sherbrooke Avenue, Glasgow G41

The number of sales in this areas within the last 12 months is said to be three with an average house price of £1,080,056.

In this street, properties are a mixture of houses and flats with one three bedroom flat having been sold for £295,000 back in May 2014 despite it having sol for £395,000 two years prior.
