Glasgow's Lorraine Kelly shares Dame Deborah James' last words to her before death

Glasgow's Lorraine Kelly has said she remembers the last words Dame Deborah James spoke to her before she sadly passed away.

Speaking on Loose Women, who recently announced they are set to come to Glasgow as part of their first ever live tour, the television presenter opened up about the late charity campaigner who died from cancer on June 28 of last year at the age of 40.

Having been diagnosed with stage 4 incurable bowel cancer in December 2016, she started her blog, BowelBabe, and asked people to do just one thing, check their poo.

Joined by hosts Ruth Langsford, Brenda Edwards, Coleen Nolan and Janet Street-Porter Lorraine spoke about her close friend, she said: "I have been finding it really difficult to talk about her in the past tense, it feels weird and really strange.

Talking about 'Dance for Debs', a campaign to raise more awareness of bowel cancer in addition to the incredible legacy of her BowelBabe fund that she set up before her death which has raised "millions and climbing," said Lorraine as she reflected on her pal's "fantastic" efforts, reports the Daily Record.

Lorraine continued: "You expect her to be there when we launched it along with her lovely mum and sister. It just felt like she was going to burst in [last week] and you were waiting for her it was really strange.

"She was just so positive and really determined to continue this campaign," revealing Deborah would have "loved" to have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, saying it had been on her 'bucket list' before her passing.

Lorraine's memories of Deborah comes as this year marks her third 'no butt's' campaign as her legacy continues to save more lives from cancer.

"It is the first year without her [Deborah] but we can make sure we feel like she's here and get dancing online," Lorraine added.

The ITV presenter recalled the time Prince William 'popped by' quite the casual thing to give Deborah her Damehood for all her charitable work as her dad was apparently "mowing the lawn at midnight."

Lorraine also admitted she "keeps hearing her [Debbie's] voice" as she spoke of the last thing the late charity campaigner said to her was to "check your poo."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
