Glasgow's Lewis Capaldi admits Netflix documentary is 'way more intimate than I'd ever imagined'

Glasgow-born Lewis Capaldi has said that his upcoming Netflix documentary is "way more intimate than I'd ever imagined" with the singer admitting he feels like he is in a "particularly vulnerable position."

In the open and honest social media post by the Forget Me singer, he shared screenshots of his notes app where he explained how he was feeling about the show which is due to be aired next month on the streaming service.

How I'm Feeling Now, the title of the highly-anticipated documentary, spoke about his mental health and his "extremely low moments" in recent years with him now "wildly nervous" about the show.

He wrote: "When the opportunity to make a documentary came up for me I was extremely hesitant. I think because I seem quite open about a lot of things whether it be in interviews, on stage or social media people assume they know a lot about me and my life but in actual fact I tend to keep a lot of things to myself as a matter of preference.

"I feel like there's a lot of things in it I haven't spoken about before and in truth the whole film became way more intimate than I'd ever imagined so it feels like a particularly vulnerable position to be in."

The 26-year-old continued: "Obviously I completely recognise how lucky I am to have the life I do and I know there are people in much worse positions than I am out there but as much as the last 5 years have been the best of my life, I would be lying if I said it hasn't all taken its toll mentally and honestly, there have been some extremely low points and that's what this song is about.

"I know the last few years have been and continue to be difficult for everyone so hopefully you relate to the tune in some way, and it might be nice to hear there's someone else in a similar boat as you, I know it would for me."

Lewis later thanked those involved in making the upcoming show a reality calling it "one of the most amazing and extremely peculiar experiences" of his life. Ending his statement he then joked: "I doubt I'll be rushing to make another one anytime soon because having a camera crew with you everywhere you go makes you look like a d*** and is quite simply f***ing stupid."

Taking to the comments to support the upcoming documentary, fans said they were proud of him and his journey as well as him being open and honest about his mental health.

One said: "Respect to you making this, I’m sure it will help other people :)."

Another added: "So ready for this. You’re the best!!"

"Incredible, best thing coming to Netflix " commented a third.

Lewis Capaldi's Netflix documentary How I'm Feeling Now will air on Netflix on April 5, 2023.
