A POPULAR Scottish arts venue has confirmed it plans to reopen in the spring following a period of temporary closure.
The Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) closed its doors on Sunday and said it will reopen in April 2025.
Located on Sauchiehall Street, the CCA will be "partially" closed until March 31, 2025.
On its website, CCA wrote: “Thank you for standing by us during this challenging time. Your patience, support, and solidarity mean the world to us.”
Last September the arts centre announced that its “financial position” had become “increasingly challenging over recent months”.
“We are facing a period of significant financial uncertainty, and we’ve been working hard to plan for the future with a focus on securing CCA’s long-term stability.”
The organisation had announced that the four-month closure would allow the CCA to focus on “restructuring and ensuring financial recovery”.
Last September, the CCA had said that the challenges such as the pandemic and the 2018 fire at the Glasgow School of Art put the venue in financial difficulties.
However, the arts centre wrote on its Instagram that it is “still around in a variety of ways”. The Third Eye Bar and the Common Ground, a place hosting workshops and activities focused on supporting people from forced migrant backgrounds, will remain open.
The Hidden Gardens in Pollokshields will host the Glasgow Seed Library while the CCA is closed.
CCA announced that it will continue “off-site” the Schools and Young People Programme that aims to improve access to contemporary art for young people.
