With less reliance on the office and a switch to remote working, lunchtime routines have changed too.
For many, it isn't about nipping away from the desk for two minutes to pop by Pret A Manger.
And thankfully there is a lot more on the lunch menu than the global food chains of the city centre.
Many parts of Glasgow have seen the introduction of independent eateries to their neighbourhood, to cater for the growing number of people who work from home.

And that means there's plenty of choice across the city.
But where do Glaswegians feel is the the best place to head to on your break for a bit of lunch, perhaps a sit down meal with a pal or to grab and go?
According to TripAdvisor, the answer may, for some, come as a bit of a surprise.
Thanks to over 480 'excellent reviews' out of 500, a street food truck - which, in the view of at least one person, is 'run by a legend' - is currently ranked as the best lunch spot in the whole of Glasgow.
MacTassos, parked up on Kelvin Way in the city's west end, will no doubt be familiar to many on account of its huge cult following.
First serving up authentic Greek food back in 2017, the family-run eatery specialises in mouthwatering gyros and souvlaki and delicious Greek sides such as heavenly halloumi fries and the brilliant baklava.
It's very much been on our radar for quite some time, having won the Glasgow Live Street Food of the Year crown in our Best Places Awards 2019.
Although they consider the west end their home - and have the perfect Kelvingrove Park spot on a sunny day - a second location opened up at Glasgow Fort in February 2020, serving up similar success.
The owners say: "We are passionate about bringing a bite size of Greece to you every single time you come visit us!"
Why do people love this place so much? Well, it's known for serving up the best Greek food outside of Greece itself.
One review left on TripAdvisor titled 'best gyros outside of Greece' reads: "As someone who travels yearly to Greece and has Greek family, MacTassos is the closest thing to a real ‘in Greece’ gyros that you can get.
"Their gyros are honestly some of the best I’ve ever had."
Another happy customer said: "Haven’t had a gyro for years since actually being in Greece. Practically all I ate there.
"Happy to say being sat in the sun eating a MacTassos chicken gyro with all the works brought me right back there!"
One person echoed their thoughts to say: "We had the best gyros today at MacTassos. The souvlaki is ABSOLUTELY delicious! Everyone should try it. I miss Greece and this felt like being at home."
Plenty have also praised the reasonable prices at MacTassos, with meat gyros available for under £5.
One review reads: "As students an honest price of £4.50 for a mixed gyro is a great selling point. The food is of the finest quality and the portion was perfect for a lunchtime treat."
A further diner, who commented on MacTassos being vegetarian, vegan and kid-friendly, said: "Amazing food and service, the people are very friendly and helpful.
"They have vegetarian and vegan options as well!
"They treated our kids with lollipops for free which was so kind.
"Very good prices and huge portions also!"
Aside from the array of food options and great pricing, the staff seem to be a key reason for the food truck's high TripAdvisor scores.
One person, who said it was the best Greek food they'd had in Scotland, said: "MacTassos Greek souvlaki is the most delicious in the country.
"The owner Tassos is a true example of Greek warmth and hospitality.
"The portions are big and the ingredients fresh and extremely tasty.
"Perfect snack during our walk at the Kelvingrove park."
And another review went a little further, although appeared to back up what many others have said. It added: "Standing for my first MacTassos at the fort today met the owner in the queue what a lovely guy.
"Food was amazing and he gave me some free halloumi fries.
"Best Gyro you will get no doubt about it all imported fresh from Rhodes.
"The guy that owns this is a legend."
The rave reviews suggest MacTassos is the best lunch option in all of Glasgow - and it's clear to see why.
