When it comes to nights out, many people don't think Glasgow is up to much whilst others think it's the best place to be. However it seems more people tend to agree with the latter after it was ranked at the top spot.
According to a recent study which analysed 51,995 recent TripAdvisor reviews, the city came out on top when looking at nightlife attractions. They also analysed which cities were best for comedy, music venues, LGBT+ venues, casinos, bars and pubs, and nightclubs.
The study, carried out by 888poker, looked at the largest and most-visited cities across the UK and found that Glasgow took the number one spot with 78 per cent of tourists leaving four or five star reviews on TripAdvisor. This means the city fought off some tough competition beating the likes of Edinburgh, London and Liverpool.

Going into specifics, they added Merchant City was ranked as the best neighbourhood in the UK for nights out. It comes after data showed nearly all (99%) of the recent ratings left by locals of the nightlife attractions in this popular area were either four or five stars.
Glasgow was featured on the top 10 list twice with Kelvinbridge said to be the sixth best place in the UK for a good night out. The west end area gained a positive rating of 92.6 per cent which comes as no surprise due to its variety of cafes and restaurants.
Whilst tourists rank it as the top spot, locals have ranked it as the seventh best place to be with our sister city, Edinburgh, taking the 10th spot. Locals left a positive ranking of 72.3 per cent for the Glaswegian city with the Capital standing at 70.9 per cent.
As well as staying on the leader board, the study broke it down even further into six categories. This included music venues, nightclubs, LGBT+ venues, casinos, bars and pubs as well as comedy.
Overall Glasgow came out pretty well appearing within the top 10 in each category. The city ranked sixth for the music category ( 66.7 %), fourth for nightclubs (74.4%), seventh for LGBT+ venues (63.6%), sixth for casinos (74.3%), sixth for bars and pubs (73.4%) and finally, eighth for comedy (48.1%).
