Glasgow ramen takeaway feel the heat on BBC Britain's Top Takeaway show

Thursday was noodle night on Britain's Top Takeaway and Glasgow cult classic Ramen Dayo were right in the miso mix on the BBC Two show.

On the cooking competition programme, five of the nation’s top-rated takeaways roll into Manchester to serve up amazing noodle dishes.

Ramen Dayo, representing Glasgow, is a restaurant run by former DJ Paul and his chef Coney, and they were right up for battling for top points.

Ramen Dayo were named by the New York Times as Scotland's premium noodle bar - no pressure there!

Paul said that the restaurant likes to "source niche Japanese ingredients", while Coney added: "We like to do this because at the end of the day, you get a proper experience of ramen."

Glasgow restaurant Ramen Dayo started off with their Shiitake and Porcini ramen, complete with soy milk and Tokyo-style noodles.

Paul stated in the show that his "heart belongs to Japan" where he lived for more than a decade learning the art of ramen-making.

Both sets of judges weren't too favourable on the tough noodles, but everyone was a fan of the mushrooms and creamy soy milk broth.

Paul and Coney sadly only got one point from Leah and Liam, due to Leah's dislike of the more niche Japanese flavours.

Spirits picked up as the Bailey family awarded them a solid three, bumping them up to four points in the first round.

Next up from the Glasgow restaurant was the Tantanmen ramen, a spicy ground pork noodle soup that's big in Japan.

There were mixed reviews for Glasgow, as the Spencer family felt the dish was a bit tame but nice - whereas Nick and Royston were pleasantly surprised with how much they enjoyed the Ramen Dayo dish.

Three points went the way of Ramen Dayo from Nick and Royston, an improvement from the beginning of the first round.

Paul and Coney got two points from the Spencer family, taking them to a total of nine points altogether - they could still pull it off!

Next was the super-sized orders, with the Williams family and a double-points order from Spartans Rugby Club.

The Williams family ordered a Miso Black, a pork-based dish noodle soup.

Glasgow impressed the Williams family with their chargrilled chop suey pork, and the texture within the dish was a hit!

The Spartans Rugby Club were not too keen on the Miso Black dish, but commended the effort put into the dish.

Sadly, their dishes did not impress enough as Coney and Paul ended in joint last place with noodle fanatics Walter and Gheorghe, on 18 points.
