Glasgow quad bike driver dies after crashing into headstone in city cemetery

A man has died after a quad bike he was driving struck a headstone in a Glasgow cemetery.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of the collision at Lambhill Cemetery in the north of the city around 6am on Sunday morning.

The 36-year-old man driving the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Sadly he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say enquiries into the fatal accident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “At 6am on Sunday, June 12, Police Scotland received a report of a collision between a quad bike and a structure within the cemetery on Tresta Road, Glasgow.

"The 36-year-old male rider of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
