Glasgow pub closes early after 'bar fight as punter injured in crossfire'

A Glasgow pub shut up early after it's claimed a 'fight' broke with a customer claiming she was caught in the crossfire.

The Gables, on Crookston Road (formerly The Pines), called last orders shortly before 10pm on Saturday night when it is understood staff stepped in to break up a brawl.

A punter out for food with her family says she was pushed and "fell into a table", leaving her with a bruised arm.

She told GlasgowLive: "We were catching up with family and friends when we decided to go through to the bar. The music was playing and everyone was having a lovely time, the next thing I know a fight started at the bar.

"The managers quickly ran to try and break up the fight and managed to get the men to leave. They came through the door again and I got caught in the crossfire.

"I ended up getting pushed by one of the individuals and fell into a table and bruised all up the side of my arm.

"After this happened, they shut the pub early and called the police."

Police Scotland said they were called to 'reports of a disturbance' at around 9.50pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson said: “We received a report of a disturbance at a premises on Crookston Road, Glasgow, around 9.50pm on Saturday, 8 April, 2023

“There was no disturbance when officers attended and no further police action required.”

GlasgowLive contacted The Gables who confirmed they closed earlier to 'save anything from kicking off' but they declined to comment on the alleged incident.
