Glasgow property: Inside the most expensive homes to rent in the city

With the cost of living crisis continuing to worsen for households across Scotland, buying property is out of reach for many — particularly in Glasgow.

As a result, those looking to move into a new home need to rent it rather than buy it.

While this is cheaper, there are still many properties to rent that will break the bank unless you have deep pockets.

We took to Rightmove to search for the priciest flats throughout the city to rent — and they're all thousands of pounds a month.

Here is a rundown of the five most expensive flats to rent in Glasgow in increasing order of price.

5. Holyrood Crescent, Woodside

Holyrood Crescent (Rightmove)

Price: £3,850 per month

Number of bedrooms: 7

Number of bathrooms: 4

The cheapest property on this list, this Woodside flat may also just be the nicest. With gorgeous wooden floors, spacious bedrooms with high ceilings, and two dining kitchens, it could make the perfect home for either a large family or a group of students. It also comes with a private garden, perfect for sitting outside on those warm summer days.

Holyrood Crescent (Rightmove)

What the listing says: "The property is offered on a furnished basis and features 7 double bedrooms (2 with en-suites), 2 spacious dining kitchens, 2 shower rooms and further WC. Further benefits include gas central heating, private gardens and you can apply to Glasgow City Council for a parking permit for the area which is priced around £85.00 and correct as of May 2022."

4. Sauchiehall Street

Sauchiehall Street (Rightmove)

Price: £3,850 per month

Number of bedrooms: 8

Number of bathrooms: 3

This property looks primed for a group of students to move in, with an ideal location for the university, and a modern, youthful aesthetic throughout. Not only does it come with a 50" plasma screen TV, but also two ovens, "generous" fridge-freezers, and three shower rooms. It's also within walking distance to a 24 hour gym and numerous other amenities.

3. Clouston Street, Kelvinside

Clouston Street (Rightmove)

Price: £4,025 per month

Number of bedrooms: 7

Number of bathrooms: 2

With no interior photos it's hard to get a full picture of this Kelvinside flat. However, according to the description on Rightmove, it has a "welcoming" reception hallway, "tastefully" decorated bedrooms, two bathrooms "complete with walk in shower enclosure", and a shared back garden.

What the listing says: "Presenting a seven bedroom duplex top floor flat on sought after Clouston Street close to Glasgow University. The property is currently undergoing refurbishment works and will be finished to the highest standard."

2. Kenmure Street, Pollokshields

Kenmure Street (Rightmove)

Price: £5,500 per month

Number of bedrooms: 5

Number of bathrooms: 2

With less bedrooms than the previous properties on this roundup, and a higher price tag, this Pollokshields flat promises a "5 star experience" to justify the cost. The location is a big plus with this property, being very close to the city centre. It also offers "2000 spring mattresses and crisp white Egyptian cotton bedlinen", as well as a 55" smart TV and a 10 seater dining table.

Kenmure Street (Rightmove)

What the listing says: "This is a stunning, newly refurbished apartment, decorated to the highest standards, offering quality furnishings and Egyptian Cotton bedlinens. The high ceilings and large windows give an air of light and space. This spacious 5 bedroom, duplex property will provide you with a 5 star experience with the added benefit of all your home comforts."

1. Park Circus

Price: £6,000 per month

Number of bedrooms: 3

Number of bathrooms: 4

Here is the most expensive property to rent in Glasgow. Incidentally, it has the fewest bedrooms out of all of the flats on this list. Charging £6,000 per month for a three-bed flat is a big ask, and while it features a "vast dining space", a "magnificent" master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, and a private garden (with artificial grass), we're not sure that's enough to justify the price. If you have the money to spend, and crave that feeling of luxury, this could be perfect for you though.

What the listing says: "Tay Letting are delighted to bring this superb three bedroom lower duplex property to the market within this redeveloped townhouse, situated on one of Glasgows finest addresses, AVAILABLE NOW, FURNISHED. The apartment comprises of a stunning living room overlooking the residents gardens. At the focal point of the living room, there is a beautiful marble fireplace and it also features fully restored plaster cornices, providing a beautiful reminder of the building's history."
