Buying a home is not cheap, particularly amid the worsening cost of living crisis.
With families across Scotland and the UK struggling to just put food on the table, owning a home for many seems out of reach.
While there are certainly bargains to be found — as we have covered in previous property roundups — sometimes it can just be fun to take a look at the priciest homes currently on the market.

As expected, the difference in what you get for your money in each area is staggering.
City Centre
Plot 72 - Park Quadrant Residences
Price: £725,000
Number of bedrooms: 3
Number of bathrooms: 3
The second most expensive property on this list, and also the smallest, is this central duplex apartment. Highlights include a master suite with a walk-in wardrobe, a private patio, and secure parking with an electric car charging point. Whether all that makes the price worth it for a 3-bedroom will depend on how keen you are to live in the centre of the city.
What the listing says: "Situated within the Leitch Core, Apartment 72 Type K, is a spacious 3 bedroom duplex apartment located over the ground and first floor with patio garden and private terrace. Comprising on the upper level, separate dining kitchen with pocket doors, stylish lounge with feature floor to ceiling bay window and Juliet style balcony, second and third bedrooms with access on to the South facing rear terrace, en suite to the third bedroom and shower room with Jack and Jill access from the second bedroom. The principle suite is situated on the ground floor with walk-in wardrobe and 4 piece designer bathroom."

East End
20 Craigpark Terrace
Price: Offers over £460,000
Number of bedrooms: 11
Number of bathrooms: 3
This 11-bedroom — yes, you read that right — detached home is the cheapest property here. Boasting period features and set over three floors, this would make an ideal investment for somebody looking to rent the rooms out. Of course, if you have a very large family it could be turned into a stunning home too — just be sure to update some of the decor.
What the listing says: "We are delighted to offer to the market 20 Craigpark Terrace, Glasgow, a substantial and genuinely rarely available HMO Investment opportunity. This magnificent 11 bedroomed Victorian sandstone villa commands approximately 4,352 sq ft of accommodation space and dates back to an era when properties were built to a standard and exacting quality that is seldom seen today."

Southside
34 Newlands Road
Price: Offers over £650,000
Number of bedrooms: 4
Number of bathrooms: 4
After the bargain 11-bedroom East End flat, this semi-detached Southside property may seem a bit pricey at first. However, look inside and you'll see that it's worth every penny, with its bright and spacious living room, sleek and modern kitchen, and stunning pink and pistachio bathroom — complete with large tub.
What the listing says: "Positioned in a sizeable plot in the centre of Newlands this stone built semi-detached villa originally dates from the early 1900s. Our clients have meticulously maintained and upgraded their home since taking ownership making this an excellent opportunity for the discerning buyer."

West End
12 Claremont Terrace
Price: Offers over £1,100,000
Number of bedrooms: 3
Number of bathrooms: 4
By far the most expensive property here, this 3-bedroom duplex is also one of the smallest. That's what you get for wanting to live in between the centre of Glasgow and the West End. It's admittedly a very nice flat, though, with period features, three en-suite bedrooms, and modern and minimalist decor. It also comes with a private garden. That price is still a hard pill to swallow, however.
What the listing says: "Listed and designed by architect John Baird I in 1842-1847, 12 Claremont Terrace is a superb main door, ground and lower ground duplex apartment that has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent times. The property has wonderful period features including high ceilings, decorative cornices and magnificent dual aspect windows, ensuring a bright and spacious feel to the property, and in particular the main living space."

North
Cortmalaw Gate
Price: £475,000
Number of bedrooms: 5
Number of bathrooms: 4
Back to another detached house, this one is a far more reasonable proposition than the last property. If you don't mind living a bit out of the way, in the suburb of Robroyston, this home has a lot to offer. Highlights include the ultramodern decor, a landscaped rear garden, and a stunning attic that has been converted into a cinema room/double bedroom.
What the listing says: "A truly superlative home that has been comprehensively refurbished and upgraded over the last couple of years, this deluxe five bedroomed family villa offers a near seamless marriage of contemporary aesthetic with a very practical, surprisingly substantial internal layout of eight principal apartments and a generous floor area of over 1,900 sq. ft. Finished to an exacting standard throughout, the property offers the perfect solution for the buyer looking to acquire a truly show stopping home. Early inspection is advised."
