Glasgow property: Inside the cheapest 1 bedroom homes in each neighbourhood

With people across Scotland and the UK struggling amid the cost of living crisis, many believe that purchasing a home is out of reach.

Those looking to buy a one-bedroom property will of course have to pay significantly less than those after a family home, but it is nonetheless a major investment.

However, while property prices in Glasgow are not cheap, they are considerably lower than in Edinburgh.

In some parts of the city, a one-bedroom flat can be bought for around £50,000, though in others it is much higher.

To find out where in Glasgow you can buy the cheapest one-bedroom flat, we took a look at each neighbourhood on Rightmove.

Here is a rundown of the most affordable one-bedroom homes currently on the market in each part of Glasgow.

City Centre

2/1, 24 Phoenix Road, £90,000

24 Phoenix Road (Rightmove)

Given its central location, it's not surprising that this flat is the most expensive property on this list. It's still under £100,000, though, and comes with plenty of amenities, including a three-piece bathroom, private residential parking, and communal gardens.

What the listing says: "One bedroom, second floor apartment in a sought after Glasgow city location, in degree of some modernisation which will appeal to first time buyers, young professionals and buy to let investors."

Newlands Road, Cathcart, £39,950

Newlands Road (Rightmove)

Far and away the cheapest property here, you could own your own one-bedroom flat for under £40,000 in the Southside. While the property is admittedly a bit of a fixer-upper, with a little hard work it could be transformed into a stunning home. It even comes with a bath!

What the listing says: "Internally comprising of Lounge/Kitchen, Master /Bedroom Bathroom and Hallway this property is awaiting a new owners personal touch and does require some internal upgrades. Externally this property has on street parking and a very well maintained communal back garden with drying area."

1041 Crow Road (Rightmove)

For the West End, £80,000 isn't a bad price at all. This property is also a total blank canvas, which would allow you to start from scratch and put your own mark on it. A bit of colour and this one could be really nice.

What the listing says: "Situated just north of Anniesland Cross and a short walk to Morrisons, retail park and Anniesland Station, this immaculately presented SECOND FLOOR APARTMENT is in "turnkey" condition and an ideal purchase for the first time buyer or property investor. Recently decorated throughout in neutral tones with new floor coverings and shower room, the property has been upgraded to a good standard."
