Glasgow Platinum Jubilee weather forecast as sunshine and 19C temperatures forecast

The weather in Glasgow is set to improve dramatically just in time for the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

To commemorate 70 years since Queen Elizabeth took to the throne, there will be a UK-wide bank holiday this week on Thursday and Friday.

According to forecaster BBC Weather, the next four-days will bring sunshine, "light winds", and "light rain showers" across much of the city.

Thursday will start off chilly, with temperatures of 7C at 6am — though things will warm up throughout the morning to 15C.

It will also be a somewhat bright morning in Glasgow, though the sunshine will only come out in intervals through the clouds.

Throughout the remainder of the day, the sun will be consistently blocked out by grey skies, but temperatures will continue to rise during the afternoon to a peak of 17C.

After this, things will begin to cool down for what looks to be a mild and wet night in the city.

Temperatures will hold steady around 10C overnight, though so will the rain will — albeit with sunny intervals.

It won't be until around 1pm that skies dry up after which the clouds will remain for the rest of the day.

The mercury will peak at 17C again at around 4pm before tailing off for another mild — though this time dry — night.

Saturday looks to be the best day of the long weekend, with clear skies forecast throughout most of the day and temperatures expected to hit 19C.

Following a somewhat cool morning, temperatures will increase steadily across the morning and afternoon, peaking at around 3pm.

Things will remain warm after this though, before cooling off at around 9pm.

Sunday looks to be another warm day in Glasgow, with temperatures peaking at 18C in the mid-afternoon, though the sun will only come out in bursts.

According to BBC Weather, it "will be a cloudier day but it should stay mostly dry, although there may be the odd isolated shower late in the day".

The pleasant weather is expected to continue into the new week, with "sunny intervals and a gentle breeze" forecast on Monday.
