Glasgow Pavilion Theatre 'up for sale' for £3.9 million as new ownership wanted

Glasgow's iconic Pavilion Theatre is to go up for sale as the curtain prepares to fall on its current ownership.

Owners, Tim and ADD Martin, have put the building up for sale amidst talks with Ambassador Theatre Group, who run the King's Theatre and Theatre Royal in the city. The Herald reports that the theatre is up for sale for £3.9 million.

Despite the surprise announcement, ticketholders have been assured by the current general manager Iain Gordon that all shows will be honoured until at the least the end of January next year.

Ian wrote on Facebook: "Thank you all for the calls, extremely positive messages and support. As you will see by the press report in the Herald, it's a shock but unfortunately we cannot comment on this any further at this stage.

"The shows will continue under my management team until at least the end of January 2023, so please keep booking shows and for the panto as I personally would love to go out on a high and will ensure a fun filled family panto that you won't get anywhere else in Glasgow. If I was a footballer, this would be my testimonial game, so please let it be the best run ever.

"It's been an adventure over the past 44 years and I think we have one of the best, cleanest, friendliest hard working staff, and affordable theatres in Glasgow, but most of all a dedicated audience who return time after time for a great Pavilion Night Out. I thank you all for the memories and hope to see you all at the Magical Adventures of Aladdin."
