Glasgow park sexual assault sparks petition for CCTV cameras to be installed

A petition has been launched to install CCTV cameras in a Glasgow park after a woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight this week.

Police enquiries are ongoing into the attack in Springburn Park in the north of the city, which took place around 4pm on Monday afternoon.

The horrific incident encouraged one local - who was also the victim of a sexual assault in the very same park - to create the petition calling for the cameras to be installed, "so we can finally make our kids and adults feel that bit safer".

The author of the petition, titled 'Get CCTV in Springburn Park so everyone is safe', wrote: "Hello everyone I'm doing this petition to get CCTV in Springburn Park due to the assault and sexual assault.

"I am a survivor of a sexual attack in this exact same park and that has took my life away and I don't won't other people to suffer the same as I do so if I can help at least more people in the future by giving them them CCTV footage of anything that happen in that park and hopefully it brings justice.

"There are far too many kids that play in that park so why should our kids not feel safe enough to play in a park that's made for them not these predators that hang around looking for their next victim. All I ask if for you to sign this petition so we can finally make our kids and adults feel that bit safer."

The petition has been signed by over 150 people since being launched yesterday. To sign it, click here
