A Glasgow nurse has been suspended after she was found drunk while dispensing patient's medication.
Margo Murray worked as a registered nurse at a care home in Barrhead, where she was found unfit for duty after attending work intoxicated and drinking while on shift.
An investigation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has found Murray's fitness to practise impaired, after she carried out her duties while intoxicated on September 7, 2020, including dispensing patient's medication - with witnesses describing the drug trolley as "in disarray" and had a number of resident’s medications in her pockets.
During the hearing the panel also heard of a similar offence on March 21, 2019 while working at a care home in Kilwinning - with fellow employees saying she appeared to be "out of sorts and slurring her words a bit".

During the events of September 7, 2020 one witness said the pill count "had been all over the place", with worries Murray may had given residents the wrong medication.
The panel heard that there was a mug on top of the drug trolley, which a few employees sniffed and said it was "definitely red wine". A witness told of how pills were lying everywhere, noting Murray was "clearly intoxicated, she was slurring her words".
The NMC took these features into account while coming to a conclusion: "Putting patients at risk of harm by carrying out medication administration whilst being under the influence of alcohol.
"Mrs Murray has not shown any evidence of having taken any steps to remediate her behaviour.
"The proportion of alcohol in Mrs Murray’s breath, at the time she attended for work on 21 March 2019 as noted in the Police case summary is considered by the panel to be high.
"No evidence of insight into the potential impact of her actions whilst attending work when not fit to do so."
With all the evidence provided the panel determined that a suspension order for a period of 12 months was appropriate in this case to mark the seriousness of the misconduct.
At the end of the period of suspension, another panel will review the order.
