Glasgow mum in Europa League final ticket appeal for Rangers-daft amputee son

A Glasgow mum has launched an appeal to try and secure a ticket for the Europa League final in Seville for her Rangers-daft amputee son.

Harris Tinney and his dad are heading to the Spanish city next week via Manchester and Gibraltar with the hope that the 14-year-old can get his hands on a ticket to cheer on Gio van Bronckhorst's side as they take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

Mum Lisa, from Bellahouston, has put out the call to try and get a ticket for her son after trying "lots of different avenues" and being met with people asking for £2,000 for a ticket.

She told Glasgow Live: "They are getting the train from Glasgow to Manchester on Tuesday night, and then they are getting a flight from Manchester to Gibraltar. They get there at 10 in the morning on Wednesday and they've hired a car to drive up to Seville. And then after the game their flights the next morning from Gibraltar.

"Johnny [Harris' dad] is fine if he can't get a ticket, he said he would wait outside the stadium for him to go in, but none of them have a ticket. He is an ambassador at Scottish Amputee Football and we're in a ballot, but the chances of him getting some now are really slim. People are asking for £2,000 a ticket which is absolutely ridiculous."

The Govan High School pupil, who plays for Amputee Football Association Scotland and Palace Park football team, has his sights on becoming the very first professional player with a prosthetic limb.

He shot to fame during lockdown after he scored a viral hit with a video of his amazing football skills - which saw him receive messages of support from ex-Gers stars Fraser Aird and Greg Docherty.

"He really is football-daft. We stay walking distance from Ibrox and he's been going to the games since he was a wee boy. The two of them have a season ticket. They go to all the games. Harris has been to one away game, I think it was against Villareal. He managed to get tickets for that one, but not this time," mum Lisa added.

"He was actually born in 2008 the year they made the final in Manchester. He's absolutely elated to be going [to Seville], and that's why they are going even though they've not got the tickets. He just wants to be there, he's just football-daft."
