Glasgow Mexican restaurant thanks customers as it announces closure due to soaring bills

Another popular Glasgow restaurant has given an emotional farewell after it was forced to close its doors due to soaring costs.

La Choza, which is found on Albion Street in the Merchant City, took to Facebook to announce it was facing some "pretty difficult decisions", adding they "really tried their best" to keep going but their electricity prices alone have "almost trebled".

The post on their official Facebook page read: "We have made the decision as a team, to close La Choza. We really tried our best to find a way around closing, but unfortunately, we just haven’t found it."

The owners then thanked the staff and customers who have supported them over the years.

"Thank you so, so much to the staff who have worked with us," they added. "Your belief in La Choza was consistent and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"Thank you to each and every customer who came through our doors - even though it took us a while to really get it right, you were behind us every step of the way."

They then wished whoever takes over the venue, as well as their neighbours in the Merchant City, the best of luck for dealing with what is a "challenging time" for the industry.

Fans of the restaurant flocked to the post to offer their thanks and condolences to the team on what must have been a very tough decision.

One wrote: "Very sad to hear this for all of you. Terrible times for businesses."

While another added: "Thank you team La Choza for some incredible memories and laughs. Big love to all and I’m sure we will see you again soon."
