Glasgow man covered in blood tells Spar shopkeeper 'I'm going to die' after horror knife attack

A thug stabbed a man and punctured his lung in a late-night murder bid.

Cameron O'Raw, 26, pounced on David Graham with a knife near Glasgow city centre after an argument.

The victim was repeatedly struck and later cried out "I'm going to die" before being taken to hospital.

O'Raw pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to attempted murder.

The court heard that the pair were together for most of the day into the early hours of the morning.

Prosecutor Chris Fyffe said: "They walked along Bridge Street towards the city centre.

"An argument ensued between them and when Mr Graham crossed the road, O'Raw followed him then struck him from behind."

Mr Graham was initially able to run away but was tailed by O'Raw who caught up with him on Oxford Street on December 14 2021.

Mr Fyffe: "Mr Graham went to ground and O'Raw stood over him.

"O'Raw repeatedly struck Mr Graham bringing his arm down towards the victim's head and body several times with force.

"Mr Graham managed to stand up but O'Raw pulled his upper clothing and dragged him to the ground."

O'Raw fled the scene while Mr Graham was able to make his way to a nearby Spar.

He entered the store, laid on the ground and told the shopkeeper: "I'm going to die."

Mr Graham was noted to have a stab wound to the left of his back and was bleeding heavily.

He was taken to hospital for urgent treatment "due to the life-threatening nature of his injuries."

The victim was found to have a stab wound to his back and abdomen.

He also suffered a collapsed lung and damage to the lower lobe of his lung.

Mr Graham was put on a ventilator, his chest was drained of blood and his wounds closed.

The hearing was told that O'Raw's blade was found after he was arrested for another matter later that same day.

The knife was analysed to find DNA of both men on it which led to O'Raw's capture for the attempted murder.

It was revealed that O'Raw has a previous conviction for a serious assault with a machete and was caged for two years.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports by Judge Lord Matthews.

O'Raw, who appeared from custody, had his remand continued meantime.
