Glasgow is set to be hotter than Greece this weekend as temperatures are predicted to soar amid a late-summer heatwave.
According to the Met Office, Glasgow will enjoy some sunny spells and clear skies over the weekend, with highs of 27 degrees and a high UV rate. Forecasters think Scotland's biggest city will be 'very warm or hot with plenty of sunshine' with 'afternoon sea breezes possible'.
If their forecast is correct, Glasgow should experience hotter weather than Greece. Sitia Public, located in the eastern part of Greek island, Crete the top temperature will only reach 26 degrees over the weekend.

In Glasgow, Saturday will begin mild, with temperatures rising to 27 degrees by 3pm. It will still feel warm overnight, only cooling off by 11pm as it reaches a warm 20 degrees in the evening.
Sunday will be similar but the day will start off warmer as by 10am, it will be 19 degrees. While the pollen count is low, UV rays will be high, so locals are warned to apply sun cream early.
The Met Office have released some tips and tricks for keeping cool in this weather;
- Keep your fluids high - drink plenty of water.
- Watch out for signs of heat-related illness
- Never leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially infants, young children or animals.
- Try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm, when the UV rays are strongest.
- Walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a wide-brimmed hat, if you have to go out in the heat.
- Avoid physical exertion in the hottest parts of the day.
