NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has said that plans are being put in place to ensure scheduled appointments can continue as planned 'wherever possible'.
The announcement comes after NHS hospitals in England said they would be forced to postpone outpatient appointments and planned operations due to reduced staffing. Most GP surgeries down south are also expected to close for the public holiday.
A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "The announcement that Monday 19 September will be the state funeral of Her Majesty the Queen, and as such, a bank holiday, NHSGGC is currently putting plans in place so that scheduled appointments can continue as planned wherever possible.
"As plans progress in the coming days, we will publish any further relevant guidance and patient information via our website and social media channels."
