The return of Bonfire Night has been put on hold as Glasgow Life say they're shifting their focus to bringing back the Christmas lights switch-on.
The November celebrations at Glasgow Green have been missed for the last two years after they were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it was hoped the popular spectacle would make a return this year.
A number of councils from across the UK, including Leeds, Hackney and Cardiff, have scrapped Bonfire Night due to now-unobtainable costs reaching hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Others have announced it is going to take a lot of community support to push on and host their events.

When Glasgow Live asked why the Guy Fawkes event on the backburner, a spokesperson for the council's arts and cultural organisation said: "There is plenty to see and do in Glasgow all year round, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
"We’re focused on bringing back the Christmas lights switch-on and restoring one of the city’s favourite festive traditions, which provides a welcome boost to its many fantastic restaurants, bars, shops and hotels.”
As reported on Glasgow Live, the beloved switching on of the lights ceremony is returning - but there will be no traditional Christmas markets at George Square and St Enoch during the festive period after the long-term organisers pulled out.
