Glasgow Harry Styles gig parking ban near Ibrox sparks fury from local resident

A furious resident has called out Glasgow City Council at the lack of 'prior warning' residents living near Ibrox Stadium have received over a parking ban in place for the Harry Styles concert.

Parking has been suspended on Edmiston Drive between Broomloan Road and Copland Road until Sunday, while traffic is being prohibited on Hinshelwood Drive, Hinshelwood Place and Ardo Gardens on the day of the show.

Cars will also not be permitted to use sections of Edmiston Drive, Copland Road and Broomloan Road between 9pm and midnight on the night of the huge gig this coming Saturday.

The resident, who lives on Copland Road, said it was "ridiculous" that locals on their street were informed of the parking ban "with less than 24 hours notice" by the council.

Wishing to remain anonymous, they told Glasgow Live: "It's ridiculous the less than 24 hours notice we were given. A letter to residents giving a bit of notice would have been appreciated, but instead I came home from work on Wednesday to find cones everywhere and yellow signs telling us we can't park in our street for three days.

"There was nothing put through doors abut it literally a flyer shoved under the close door with a map of the closed streets the day before yesterday. I understand we are close to an events space but residents shouldn't be punished because of it.

"There's not an option to get a residents' parking permit in the area, but there should be especially during these events. If my vehicle was damaged/broken into when it's parked overnight in surrounding areas where I can't keep an eye on it I doubt the council would be happy to pay for it when it's their fault it's there."

Responding to a tweet by the local, Glasgow City Council replied: "Apologies for the inconvenience but the signs are up in advance of the parking suspension and are in line with restrictions for events at Ibrox."

Glasgow Live has approached the council for additional comment.
