A block of flats in the east end has been evacuated after a fire broke out on Friday morning.

Emergency services raced to the building on Baltic Street in the Dalmarnock area after the alarm was raised around 6.45am.

A number of fire engines, ambulance crews, and police are on the scene with the severity of the fire currently unknown.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live: "The fire looks to be about eight floors up and the windows are all black with smoke.

"There are loads of emergency services in attendance. The whole place has been evacuated.

"There are three ambulances but it's not clear if there are any casualties but the public is being kept really far away from the scene."

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that they are in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police and emergency services are currently dealing with a fire at a block of flats on Ruby Street, Glasgow to which they were called around 6.45 am this morning, Friday, 24 June, 2022. Enquiries are continuing. There is no risk to other residents within the block of flats."
