It has been confirmed that Glasgow First Bus workers have accepted a last minute offer which could see wages rise up to nine-and-a-half per cent.
Unite the Union announced that Bidvest Noonan workers, who are contracted to clean and refuel buses for First Bus at both the Glasgow and Aberdeen depots, agreed to the latest offer which has prevented strike action.
Over 100 staff members will receive a minimum eight per cent rise, while those in Glasgow will also receive a free bus pass as part of the 11th hour pay offer.

The significant increase comes after workers were offered a two per cent rise which was rejected.
Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary, said : “Bidvest Noonan workers have secured a wage rise at least four times higher than what the company was originally offering. It was achieved only through the threat of industrial action which our members were fully prepared to take. It's another win for Unite securing better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”
The contract workers in both cities were outsourced by First Bus in Glasgow in 2016, and then December 2020 in Aberdeen.
Wendy Dunsmore, Unite industrial officer added: “This is a good deal for Bidvest Noonan workers across Aberdeen and Glasgow. Our members’ strength and resolve forced the company back to the negotiating table with a vastly improved wage offer. We are pleased that the membership has accepted this deal. However, the dispute should also be a warning to Bidvest Noonan that they can't take their workers for granted anymore."
