Glasgow faces missing from home this Christmas as loved ones keep up search to find them

While families across the country will be celebrating Christmas together this year, for many, there will be someone missing.

As we prepare to go into the New Year, we remember those people who are missing with loved ones still desperately searching for them.

Police teams have been working tirelessly to reunite families affected, but in some cases, the search will be continuing into 2023.

Barry McCullagh

40-year-old Barry McCullagh was last seen around 5.20pm on Wednesday, October 5.

Barry, who lives in Castlemilk, was last seen near to the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Corsebar Road, Paisley.

He is described as 5 ft 9 ins in height and of medium build with short, black hair. He was wearing black and navy jogging trousers, a black jacket, and grey and white trainers.

David Findlay

David Findlay, a keen walker, left his home in Cardonald around 3pm on Monday 5 May, 2008.

He never returned home and his family hasn’t seen or heard from him since.

The last confirmed sighting of David was around 6pm on Monday, May 5, 2008 on Sauchiehall Street at West Nile Street.

Officers also followed up on a number of unconfirmed sightings in Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Milngavie, Kirkintilloch, Shettleston and Kilsyth. However, all attempts to locate David proved unsuccessful.

David is described as 5ft 4 ins in height and of medium build with grey receding hair and gold-rimmed glasses.

Mary Duncan

Mary Duncan disappeared from her home in West Dunbartonshire in 1976, when she was 17 years old. She was last seen leaving her home in Alexandria on 19 March that year, after telling her family she was going to meet a friend, but never returned.

Mary had become pregnant at the age of 15 and gave birth to a baby girl, Laura Duncan, on February 17, 1975. She did not take her daughter with her when she disappeared and baby Laura died of natural causes on October 25, 1976.

Extensive investigations have been carried out in an attempt to establish any information regarding Mary’s whereabouts, however, no trace of her has been found.

Paul Booth

Paul, who was from the Seafar area, was last seen around 2pm on October 25, 2016, on the footbridge between McGregor Road and Hillcrest Road in Cumbernauld.

Then aged 45, he is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with sallow skin and light brown cropped hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, jeans, white trainers and a beanie hat. Paul walks with a slight limp.

Despite extensive police searches and enquiries, officers are yet to obtain any information on Paul’s whereabouts.

Paul Harley

Paul Harley, was 53-years-old when he was reported missing from his home in Whiteford Avenue, Dumbarton on September 28, 2014.

He is described as white, around 5ft 5ins in height and of slim build. He has black receding hair and a tattoo of ‘Kyla’ on his right arm.

Stuart Clark

Stuart Clark has been missing from his home in Dalmuir since Sunday, January 17, 2016.

The 59-year-old is described as white, around 6ft 2ins in height and of medium build with red hair and beard. Stuart also wears glasses and has a distinctive stilted walk.

He was believed to be wearing a dark-coloured waterproof jacket and was carrying a black/grey rucksack.

Thanh Van Bui

Thanh Van Bui, 15, who resided in the Pollokshields area, was last seen around 7.45am on Friday 12 June 2015 in the Pollokshields area of the city.

CCTV of Thanh taken in the afternoon of Friday, June 12, within Glasgow Central Station was released in a bid to obtain more information on his whereabouts. He was seen to board a train bound for England.

Tom Graham

Tom Graham, aged 30, from Linkwood Crescent in Glasgow, was last seen in the early hours of October 27, 2018 in the area of Edinbeg Place, Toryglen.

Tom, a high-risk missing person, is described as 6ft in height and of medium/athletic build, with short, dark hair. Tom also has a distinctive tattoo, the name 'Sophie' on the right side of his neck, a tattoo of a knife on his lower right arm and a tattoo of a black panther on his calf.

Vincent Barr

Vincent Barr, known as Vinny or Bardo, from the Govan area has been missing since September, 2020.

Enquiries carried out have confirmed the last sighting of Vincent, 54, was around 9.10pm on Friday, September 18, 2020, walking across the Tradeston footbridge, known locally as the 'squiggly' bridge, and then heading into the wider Tradeston area.

Samuel Townsley

Samuel, 28, was last seen in Union Street at around 9.30am on October 19, 2016. He asked to use the toilet in the barbers Rebel Rebel, and staff were so concerned about his appearance, they called the police.

A further sighting several days later at one of the city’s homeless services was also confirmed by officers.
