A popular West End restaurant has picked up an award for their ‘outstanding wine list’, beating out thousands of applicants from across the country.
Ubiquitous Chip on Ashton Lane shared the update on social media, telling followers of their Notable Wine List Award from AA.
Introduced in 1998, the award recognises an outstanding contribution to promoting wine understanding and appreciation. Nominees are judged on the quality of their wine list, and their ability to inspire customers to make wider and more adventurous choices in selecting wines.

Posting to their Facebook page, Ubiquitous Chip said: “The Ubiquitous Chip restaurant has been awarded the AA Notable Wine List Award 2022/23.
“We have been recognised for our outstanding wine list from over a thousand entries. Congratulations to our wonderful and dedicated Sommeliers.
“If you would like to celebrate with us over some fine wines, we have one table six available in our restaurant for Hogmanay, or book in for a wine tasting in 2023. Cheers everyone and Merry Christmas.”
Last year marked half a century of the Ubiquitous Chip, which became known for its locally sourced and traceable offerings. Up until the business was snapped up by pub chain the Metropolitan Pub Company earlier this year, it was the longest-established family owned restaurant in Glasgow.
In July, the West End spot was sold to the Greene King group - which boasts over 2,700 venues across the UK. Prior to this, it was in ownership of the Clydesdale family since its creation.
Notable diners include Princess Margaret, Mick Jagger and Sir Billy Connolly - all of which we’re sure enjoyed their fine wine selection.
