Glasgow Easter weekend weather: Heatwave thanks to hot air from Sahara Desert

Glasgow's weather has been like a rollercoaster this past month.

In March we had highs of almost 20C followed by a lot of rain - and although we can't say we were too shocked about this given our luck with the weather, we are still holding out for some hope when it comes to sunny spells.

And we might not have to wait too long because as we reported yesterday, hot air blown two thousand miles from the Sahara Desert could see Scotland become as hot as the Balearic Islands for the Bank Holiday weekend.

And we certainly won't say no to that.

Whilst temperatures may not be 'sunbathing in Spain' hot, it's certainly going in the right direction as we approach summer.

So what does the weather look like for the week ahead?

Glasgow's five day weather forecast according to the Met Office

Today:

Argyll will see some early brightness this morning, otherwise a cloudy day with rain spreading north to most areas by the end of afternoon. Northern Argyll may remain dry. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with rain in many areas this evening. Becoming drier in the early hours, some cloud breaks possible across the south. Still the odd shower across Argyll. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Mainly dry with some warm sunny spells developing by afternoon, although Argyll remaining rather cloudy. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A mainly dry few days although it will be rather cloudy at times. Feeling quite warm in any sunshine.
