A doctor at Glasgow Children's Hospital is today (June 21) walking from sunrise to sunset in a bid to raise money to make operating theatres less 'intimidating' for little ones.
Dr Alyson Walker, a cardiac anaesthetist, set off from her Scotstoun home at the crack of dawn and will be walking until sunset - for approximately 17-and-a-half hours on the longest day of the year.
Monies raised will be invested into transforming the theatre environment into "one filled with love and empathy", Dr Walker said.
She added: "I am absolutely passionate about transforming our children's operating theatres from being intimidating and clinical places to being warm, calming and welcoming.

"I want children and parents who come to our theatres to feel that real love and empathy has gone into the design of our environment.
"I work in the heart theatre and so these can be very long days indeed for parents, while their child is in theatre. As a mum, I can't imagine how hard that must be.
"There are many different kinds of complex operations happening in our theatres. Every operation is an important (and often intimidating) experience for the children and families.
"By creating a child and young person-friendly place, I hope that anxiety in visiting theatres will be less and that children will share positive stories about the day they visited theatre."
Dr Walker admits she has a mammoth task ahead of her but is determined to do her best.
She added: "What motivates me is the children I see every day coming to us for operations, and their families. I am also motivated by my colleagues, who I think are simply wonderful people to work with.
"Lastly, there are several schools getting involved with their pupils walking a mile or two during the day and the thought of these children walking at the same time is incredibly motivating and it means I have to do it.
"I think it will be quite a challenge but I am feeling excited at the prospect of a day where I don't really know what will unfold.
"The work that Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity does is incredible, they bring the magic. I can't begin to describe the enormous difference that donations make."
Those wanting to get involved and support Dr Walker's cause can do so virtually and all you need to do is let her know on her twitter, @alysonwalkerRHC, using #walkwithAly.
You can also head to the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity (GCHC) Facebook page where she will be uploading live videos throughout the day.
Other ways to get involved include suggesting songs for Dr Walker to add to her playlist that will keep her going throughout the day, with a pledge of £5 for each song.
