But it doesn't end there, with countless others sales having taken place within the last few months - and some as recent as this week.

More and more people are checking their wallets, and behind their sofa, in a bid to see just how much they can get for their spare change - and it's serving as a reminder to people that they may not want to spend loose change.

So, what type of coins are being sold in the Glasgow area - and how much for? Here's what we found.

First World War £2 coin, 2016

Listed as an 'EXTREMELY RARE 2016 First World War £2 coin', a local seller managed to bag £2,100 for the coin which is said to have a circulating mintage of 9,550,000.

According to Change Checker, "the third issue in the Royal Mint’s five year First World War Centenary series will commemorate the role of the Army. After the war broke out in 1914, it became clear that the British army was not large enough to sustain the conflict that engulfed Europe and then the world.

"Thousands of men volunteered for service and it was realised that many more would enlist if they could serve alongside their friends, relatives and neighbours. The so called ‘Pals Battalions’ are honoured on this WW1 commemorative £2 coin. This reverse of this coin was designed by Tim Sharp and marks a poignant moment in military history."
