Council bosses are working to make employability more accessible to all Glasgow City residents as the local authority continues to address the cost of living crisis.
A report brought before the operational performance and delivery scrutiny committee asked members to agree a “missions based” approach to address the current financial difficulties in Glasgow by increasing opportunity and prosperity for all citizens.
Mission 1 looks to support Glasgow residents in finding suitable and fair work while mission 2 supports the growth of an innovative, resilient and net zero carbon economy.

During the meeting officers were thanked for their commitment to the scheme which is helping disabled people find employment but questions were raised about what could be done to help more “disadvantaged” groups.
SNP councillor Roza Salih said: “It is great to see that Glasgow City Council is engaging with citizens to find employment - especially those who are disabled.
“Are there criteria to help other groups of people, especially ethnic minorities to be included when it comes to finding employment?”
Glasgow City Council is working to establish a formal partnership with the Apt (Disability Employment Gap) Public Social Partnership to improve the access to and retention of work for people with disabilities across Glasgow.
A council officer said: “Yes. All our employability programmes look at the characteristics particularly of disadvantaged groups.
“In the main, it is about having an all age holistic employability service which is open to everyone. Our aim tends to be about making it more accessible and available to all rather than limiting it to specific groups.
“We can provide information on specific groups offline.”
