It has been confirmed that Glasgow locals will see a council tax rise of five per cent and comes after councillors met yesterday (February 16) to plug a £60m budget gap.
The rise will now see households pay more with the likes of those in Band D paying £1,499, bringing in an extra £12 million. As well as this, the council will also take £6m from reserves.
Cllr Bell said the UK’s inflation crisis has been devastating for public finances and “councils are caught up in that” with other plans such as an increase in bus lanes fines mentioned during the meeting.
